Whiterock Conservancy in Coon Rapids recently received a $3,000 donation from the proceeds of the annual Whiterock Ultra running event. The yearly race is going into its seventh year and continues to see support from runners eager to participate in the 50 km and the 50-mile trail race. In 2018, representatives for Relentless Events of the Iowa Gravel Classic reached out to Michael McGinn about how awesome of a place Whiterock Conservancy is; McGinn agreed and partnered up with Greg Gayman to create the Whiterock Ultra. Whiterock Conservancy Executive Director Kate Zimmerman says this event draws people from all over the country.
Both the 50-kilometer and 50-mile races are competitive, and times are used for qualifiers for other races through the corporation Former Athlete, LLC. Zimmerman says this $3,000 donation shows how much this event continues to grow annually.
Zimmerman says events and contributions from donors like McGinn and Gayman continue to support Whiterock’s mission.
For any runners interested in participating in the Whiterock Ultra, be sure to follow the Whiterock Conservancy and Whiterock Ultra social media pages; both have been included below. Registration will open around December of this year, with the next race kicking off in July 2025.
