Westside Boil Advisory Extended Into Thursday

The City of Westside announced today (Tuesday) that the boil advisory issued Friday evening for residents will be extended until at least Thursday after bacterial contamination was found. Officials issued the warning after a hydrant blew during routine flushing procedures, resulting in pressure loss in large swaths of the system. Tests conducted on Sunday and Monday found traces of bacteria within the water samples, necessitating the extension. Westside customers are advised to boil all water used for consumption, including cooking, drinking, making ice, and brushing teeth. Alternatively, residents can use bottled water instead. Additional testing is ongoing this week, and officials are hopeful the advisory will be lifted late on Thursday. Customers with questions can contact Westside City Hall by calling 712-663-4493.
