With yesterday’s (Wednesday) much-needed precipitation falling and more forecasted this weekend, few counties in the listening area have lifted the burn ban restrictions. As of this (Thursday) afternoon, Carroll, Greene, and Calhoun Counties have lifted the month-long ban implemented due to the dry land conditions and strong winds that could cause a fire to spread quickly, becoming a dangerous situation for life and property. Residents outside these three counties still have an active burn ban and are prohibited from opening burning until further notice. Anyone caught in violation of this order will be charged with a simple misdemeanor.
