The Breda Recreation League’s plan to upgrade the ballfield in Memorial Park got a boost this week thanks to a donation from the McFarland Community Grant program. The foundation presented a $1,000 check to the organizers behind the $325,000, with the funds from McFarland to be allocated to lighting. To date, the Breda Recreation League has raised $50,000, or about 15 percent. Once enough funds have been raised, the park’s lighting system will be outfitted with new poles, LED lights, underground wiring, and a new layout.
