Western Iowa Networks (WIN) awarded the City of Carroll and the Arcadia Betterment Development Corporation with a $500 donation through the Aureon Charity Grant Program. Non-profit agencies served by Aureon, participating telecommunication companies, are eligible to receive this grant to aid with specific projects for the community. Acadia Betterment Corp. will use the funding to provide signage for the approximately half a mile asphalt bike trail recently completed along the south side of E. Center Street from S. Division Street to Saint John’s Catholic Cemetery. President of the organization, Pat Vogl, says, “This trail will provide a safe route for children and adults to walk alongside the road to reach ball fields, park or even to go view the cemetery. Safety is a priority for all residents of Arcadia, and aiding in making the city much safer is an honor.” The City of Carroll plans to use the funding to aid in the beautification process for the Graham Park Bandshell project. Parks and Rec Director Chad Tiemeyer says once he receives the plans from the engineering group, he will take it back to the city council for approval. “Right now, the plan is to soda blast the back wall, fix any loose bricks, add water sealant, and new plaster before finally repainting the Bandshell to bring it back to the statement piece it was before. This structure is a historic part of Carroll, and we need to keep up with its maintenance to ensure it lasts for generations to come.” Any other non-profit organization wishing to learn more or to fill out a funding application can do so using the link included below.
