Guthrie County fails to pass EMS Essential Service Tax, and county sheriff incumbent loses race to republican opponent. Of the 8,475 registered voters, the county reported 6,604 or 77 percent voter turnout for this year’s election. Uncontested races featured District 2 and District 5 county board of supervisors, with republican candidates Brian Johnson for District 2 and Mike Dickson for District 5 taking the seats. Johnson received 91 percent of the votes, while Dickson was favored by 97 percent. Republican candidate Dani Fink held the role of county auditor, receiving 98 percent of the votes. The only contested race in Guthrie County was for County Sheriff, with long-standing sheriff Marty Arganbright (Dem.) falling short to Republican candidate Matt Harmann, 37 percent to 61 percent, respectively. Guthrie County Public Measure IU asked for EMS essential service tax to be levied on Guthrie County residents’ taxes. The passing required a 60 percent yes vote, with only 53 percent of total ballots favoring the tax.
