Sac County voters approve Public Measure of EMS Essential Service Tax, but shy of the required mark for the new jail bond referendum. Sac County reported that 5,497 of the 7,266 voters, or 75 percent, showed up to place their vote on this year’s ballot. No races were contested, with Ranell Drake, Republican, taking the seat of District One board of supervisors with 98 percent of the votes and incumbent county auditor James Dowling, republican, also receiving 98 percent of votes. Sac County Sheriff Kenneth McClure, republican, remains in the position with 96% of votes. Sac County Public Measure A, granting EMS Essential Service Tax and raising county taxes 75 cents per $1,000 of taxable valuation, passed, requiring 74 of the benchmark of 60 percent needed. Sac County Public Measure B, allowing the county to pass a $10.95 million bond referendum for a proposed new jail project, missed the margin by just shy of two percent, receiving 58 percent of the 60 percent of yes votes required. Sac County Officials will likely return to the plan to make any necessary changes and bring it to a special vote next year.
