ISU Extension And Carroll County Cattlemen Offer BQA Certification Workshop Nov. 15

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach and the Iowa Beef Industry Council are hosting a Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) training in Carroll on Friday, Nov. 15. The session will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the Swan Lake Conservation Education Center. The BQA program is essential for producers, as many major packers now require certification to purchase market-ready cattle. According to ISU beef specialist Erika Lundy-Woolfolk, the training offers more than just certification. She says, “The BQA program includes a great deal of useful information that producers can take home and immediately utilize in their beef cattle operations to improve cattle health and well-being and worker safety. The program will include information that applies to all facets of beef cattle production including cow-calf, stocker/backgrounder, and feedlot.” The workshop is free for cattlemen and industry stakeholders thanks to sponsorships from Carroll County ISU Extension and Carroll County Cattlemen. RSVPs are requested via the Carroll County Extension Office at 712-792-2364 or astread@iastate.edu.
