The Merton V. Hair Post of the American Legion donates $5,000 to the Early Achievers 4-H Club’s playground project. The 4-H Club has raised $41,000 of their $62,000 goal to install a poured-in-place rubber surface and new inclusive swings at the 3rd Street City Park in Early. The Merton V. Hair Post consists of members from both Early and Nemaha, and they are proud to help assist the 4-H organization’s efforts to increase safety and accessibility for children in the community. Brad Thorpe, Commander of the Merton V. Hair Post, says, “This investment in our local youth aligns with our Legion’s commitment to service and community betterment.” With the donation to the playground project, the Post continues to stand behind its service mission and strengthen the bond between veterans and the community they live and serve in. Leaders for the Early Achievers 4-H Club say, “We are grateful to have such a supportive organization as the legion in our community. With their help, we are continuing to make 3rd Street Park an accessible and safe space for everyone. Their support provides youth in 4-H with the encouragement and motivation we need to stay focused on our goals.” The 4-H group wishes to extend their appreciation to the Merton V. Hair Post, which doesn’t only support the project but the entire community.
