The Carroll County Board of Supervisors will certify the results of Tuesday’s general election at their meeting on Tuesday. The board will convene a day later than usual due to the Veterans Day holiday and to allow ballots cast by military servicemembers to arrive. They will meet at 3 p.m. instead of the usual 9 a.m. start time. The first item of business will be to canvass the Nov. 5 election results, which will require them to read through the vote tallies from each of the county’s precincts and approve them, making the results official. Once that lengthy process is finished, they will swear in District 5 Supervisor-elect, Mark McCrea. The supervisors then return to more routine business, which includes reports from County Engineer Zac Andersen regarding the Secondary Roads Department. The board will also review and approve the 2024 Iowa Family Farm tax credits, payables, plats, and liquor licenses. County officials will then host a discussion on the plans for funds allocated to the county to combat opioid abuse in the region. They close with manure management annual updates and committee reports. The Tuesday, Nov. 12 meeting is open to the public and will be live-streamed via the county’s YouTube channel.
