Kuemper Catholic students, staff, and community members gathered Friday afternoon to honor four Kuemper alumni who made the ultimate sacrifice. During the Vietnam War, seven service members from the Carroll County area were killed while serving their country; four of them were graduates of Kuemper Catholic between 1959 and 1966. Kuemper President John Steffes says there is no better way to honor these men than by paying tribute to them on the 51st anniversary year of the war ending.

Thomas Eischeid, Lawrence Hegedorn, Gerald Feltner, and Wayne Gross were honored during this ceremony, having a special plaque dedicated to them that will be placed in the school building. Greg Siemann, who came up with the idea of the dedication ceremony, introduced each of the four service members, saying that this plaque would be a way for the Kuemper community to honor their legacy.
