Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) has been named one of Military Times’ 2024 “Best For Vets: Colleges”, recognized for its ongoing support of service members and veterans. The list ranks the top schools for military-affiliated students based on a survey of veteran-focused programs and public data from the Department of Education and the Department of Veterans Affairs. DMACC President Rob Denson says, “DMACC has always played an important role helping our nation’s military service members and veterans achieve their educational goals. We greatly appreciate the sacrifice these individuals have made for our country and communities. We strive to honor their service and commitment through our dedicated services for veterans.” Currently, DMACC has 363 students with veteran status, including 72 active-duty members, 189 veterans, and 102 dependents. DMACC ranked 237th nationally and is among seven Iowa schools on the list, including Hawkeye Community College, Upper Iowa University, University of Northern Iowa, Iowa State University, Palmer College, and Loras College.
