Ar-We-Va Community School District (CSD) administration and staff are celebrating the news of increased performance scores for school buildings in the district in this year’s Iowa Department of Education (IDE) report card released earlier this month. The school rating is based on points earned for the Accountability Index Score, which looks at proficiency, growth, and chronic absenteeism. Other indicators include graduation rate and post-secondary readiness. Ar-We-Va CSD scored over the state average for proficient English language arts by over 14 points at 86.84, over 15 points for proficient mathematics at 85.53, and over 18 points for proficient sciences scores at 80. In the performance score, the IDE also looks at the growth of mathematics and English language arts. Overall, students in the Ar-We-Va district saw growth, earning slightly above the state average of 50 at 51 and 53, respectively. Last year, Ar-We-Va Elementary School earned a “commendable’ rating of 56.19 percent. This year, the school performance score increased 25.5 percent to 75.42 percent, achieving a high-performing rating. The middle and high school remained a high-performing designation but increased their score from 65.21 percent to 71.16 percent of total points earned. Administrators and staff are proud of the rating and acknowledge the hard work of the entire district and community for helping to achieve a high-performing designation.
