Regional Unemployment Rises In October; Holds Even With 2023 Rates

Unemployment rates increased during October in six of the seven counties in the listening area, according to data released this (Tuesday) morning by Iowa Workforce Development (IWD). Audubon and Greene counties recorded the lowest rates in the region at 2.1 percent, increasing by 0.4 points and 0.2 points, respectively. Carroll County recorded the highest increase from September to October, rising from 1.9 percent to 2.4 percent. Sac County was the only county in the region to see unemployment decrease, dropping by 0.4 points to 2.7 percent. Guthrie County also increased by 0.5 points to 3.0 percent, while Crawford County recorded unemployment at 3.5 percent, 0.1 points higher than the prior month. On average, unemployment rates in the seven-county region increased by 0.2 points but were even with October 2023 figures. Local rates are not seasonally adjusted.
