Philadelphia Eagles edge rusher Bryce Huff will miss play time after undergoing left wrist surgery Thursday,

Head coach Nick Sirianni confirmed that the surgery will sideline Huff for a period of time, saying: “he’s really done a good job of battling through, but this will hopefully help him get some more function in that hand.”

Huff was initially diagnosed with a hand injury that significantly limited his playing time in their win over the Jacksonville Jaguars and he had been wearing a cast on the wrist for the past couple weeks. Huff signed a three-year, $51 million contract last spring. ad appeared in all ten games, logging five tackles, 2.5 sacks, one forced fumble, 11 quarterback hurries, one quarterback hit, and 14 quarterback pressures in 154 pass rush snaps for the Eagles.

Former first-round pick Nolan Smith has started four of the past five games at left edge in place of Huff and has 3.5 sacks on the year; while Josh Sweat (6 sacks) and Brandon Graham, 36, (2.5 sacks) will continue to lead the edge group. Sirianni said: “we really like this room. We love Bryce … but we feel good about the depth we have here and some of the young guys [on the team].”
