Ricky St. Peter of Scranton

 Ricky Edward St. Peter, age 78, of Scranton, IA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at his home in Scranton surrounded by family.
    Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Glidden with Fr. William Schreiber as Celebrant assisted by Deacon Gary Harmeyer.  Lectors for the Mass will be Chantal Gottsch and Kari Abandah.  Music for the Mass will be by the St. Elizabeth Seton Choir with Mary Ross as organist and Amy Roberts as soloist.  Gift bearers will be Elizabeth Milham, Emily Gray, and Sydney Roberts.  Casket bearers will be Todd St. Peter, Blake St. Peter, Christopher St. Peter, Jeremy Scheuermann, Logan Scheuermann, Alex Roberts, Dane Carrillo, Brayden Roberts, and Cruz Carrillo.  Burial will be in the Scranton Township Cemetery.
     A Rosary will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton at 4:30 P.M. on Friday, November 29, 2024 followed by visitation from 5 – 7 P.M. The visitation will conclude with a Christian Wake Service at 7 P.M.
     The casket will be moved to St. Elizabeth Seton Church at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M. prior to the Mass.
     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left at the funeral home or the church for a later designation.
     Rick was born on January 14, 1946 in Creston, IA.  He was the son of Richard and Mary Ann (Frederick) Bittner.  When Rick was one and a half years old, his father was killed in a construction accident.  His mother was later remarried to Royce St. Peter who adopted Rick and he was the oldest of six children.  He grew up in Scranton and graduated from Scranton Consolidated Schools in 1964.  Rick enlisted in United States Air Force in 1965 and served seven years stationed in Texas and Okinawa as an Avionics Technician.  Rick was married to Sheila Harmeyer on April 11, 1966 at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX, while they were both serving in the Air Force.  Following his honorable discharge, Rick returned to Scranton and started Rick’s T.V. Sales and Repair.  He later went to work for Electric Motor Repair in Carroll and most recently Scranton Manufacturing retiring at age 62.  Rick also did farming on the side.  He enjoyed restoring tractors and older cars.  He also enjoyed fishing, playing cards and games, but most of all spending time with his family.  Rick adored his cat Smokey.
     Rick is survived by his wife Sheila of Scranton; his four children and their families: son Jeff St. Peter (Deb) of Carroll, daughter Kim St. Peter – Carrillo of Omaha, daughter Kathy Scheuermann (Dan) of Jefferson, and daughter Amy Roberts (Jason) of Jefferson; sixteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; a sister Roxanna Lindsey of San Antonio, TX, a brother Gail St. Peter (Yatzi) of Scranton, a sister Denise Bull (Doug) of Ames, a brother Keith St. Peter (Ethyl) of Ames, a sister Lisa Walker (Tim) of Marshfield, WI; and many other extended family members and good friends.
     Rick was preceded in death by his parents.
