Guthrie Center Daycare Provider Pleads Guilty To Child Endangerment After Injuring Four Month Old Last Year

A Guthrie Center daycare provider has pleaded guilty to one count of child endangerment after injuring a four-month-old child in her care last year. According to Guthrie County District Court records, 31-year-old Mackenzie Herron was taken into custody on Nov. 15, 2023, on child endangerment causing serious injury, a class C felony, after admitting to “slamming” the child on a wooden floor when turning them over after tummy time. The child’s parents did seek medical attention, and it was discovered the infant had a non-depressed skull fracture, upper arm bruising, swelling on the right side of the head, bruising around the right eye, and “old” injuries of three fractured ribs. Herron pleaded guilty to one count of child endangerment, a class D felony, per a plea agreement on Oct. 31 of this year and awaits her sentencing hearing scheduled on Dec. 16. Herron faces a maximum sentence of up to five years in prison and $10,245 in fines.
