Born on September 11, 1925 in Arcada, Iowa, “Izzie” was the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Lampe. Izzie attended St. John School until 9th grade then worked in various jobs for multiple local families.

On January 28, 1947, Izzie was united in marriage to Aloysious, “Al,” at St. John’s Catholic Church in Arcadia. Following their marriage, Al and Izzie made their home south of Westside where Izzie devoted the next years of her life to raising her four children. Following Al’s retirement in 1987, they moved from the farm into town.

Al and Izzie enjoyed dances, card clubs, fishing, and spending time in Okoboji annually. They were able to travel and visit family in Illinois, Wisconsin, Colorado, and even went to Hawaii with Lawrence and Arlene for a vacation.

Izzie will forever be remembered for her large feasts on holidays and get-togethers. Homemade buns, popcorn balls, Christmas cookies, and Dentlinger pancakes were family favorites that have yet to be perfected by her family.

Izzie’s family is especially grateful for the Denison Care Center staff and St. Croix Hospice caregivers. Steady in her devout faith until her last breath, with rosary in hands, we take comfort knowing the gates of Heaven were wide open waiting for her arrival and sweet return to Al.

Survivors include her children: Betty (Ed) Welte of Auburn, NE, Jane (John) Lally of Denison, Lon (Susie Peterman) Dentlinger of Omaha, and Dale (Kathy) Dentlinger of Aurora, IL; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Joni Badding of Carroll, 1 great-great grandson, nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.

Izzie was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings: Clarence (Bertha) Lampe, Albert (Margaret) Lampe, Herman (Sally) Lampe, Joseph (Helen) Lampe, Dorothy (Hilbert) Meister, Marvin (Jeanette) Lampe, and Pauline Lampe; as well as her brothers-in law and sisters-in law; Elmer (Elaine) Dentlinger, Lawrence (Arlene) Dentlinger, Ruth (Andy) Schreck, Martha (Everett) Daniel, Clara (Elmer) Friedman, and Bob Badding, grandson: Chad Welte, great-grandson: Jonathan Welte, great-granddaughter: Sloane Wright, & Mary Beth Dentlinger.
