Kuemper Student Delivers Over 1,000 Toys, Nearly $2,000 In Gift Cards To UI Children’s Hospital

Last week, a Kuemper Catholic student and University of Iowa Children’s Hospital patient, Austin Mollhoff, delivered more than 1,000 toys and close to $2,000 in gift cards to patients and their families in Iowa City. Mollhoff was diagnosed with a rare brain cancer, craniopharyngioma, when he was just 10 months old. Over the last eight years, he has received dozens of surgeries and treatments. Despite the challenges, Austin decided he wanted to help the other children at the hospital and hosted a toy drive with the help of his mother, Jen, his teachers, and several Carroll businesses. With help from the community, Austin delivered 1,168 toys and $1,800 in gift cards to the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital. A photo of Austin making his delivery is included with this story on our website.
