The Carroll County Board of Supervisors is recouping nearly $25,000 from the State of Iowa for housing Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) offices in the county annex. Auditor Kourtney Payer says Carroll County incurs expenses as a result of DHS operations, for which the state reimburses the county.
Expenses for Fiscal Year (FY) 2024, which ended June 30, totaled $74,790. After calculating carry-forward adjustments, about a third of that amount, $24,681, will be paid back to the county in FY26.
The supervisors voted unanimously during their meeting on Monday to approve the DHHS FY24 cost allocation plan and authorize Board Chair Stephanie Hausman to sign the required documentation.
