Barry Severin Jensen, age 92, of Carroll, IA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at Regency Park in Carroll.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Rev. Patrick Henderson officiating. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery in Glidden with military honors by the Carroll American Legion.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, December 6, 2024 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll. Visitation will resume on Saturday from 1:00 to 1:45 P.M. at the funeral home in Carroll prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Carroll American Legion and may be left with the funeral home.

Barry was born on June 11, 1932 on his family’s farm near Glidden, IA. He was the son of Neils and Gwenneth (Leonard) Jensen. He grew up in the Old Carrollton area and attended Evergreen Country School, the Carrollton School, and Glidden High School. Following his schooling, Barry worked with his father on their farm near Carrollton. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1953 and served two years during the Korean Conflict stationed in Germany. He was married to Mary Ann Billmeier on March 31, 1955 in Carroll. The couple made their home in Carroll where they raised their two children Michael and Sheri. Barry worked for the Iowa State Highway Commission for 19 years as a driver. He also worked for Carroll Auto Salvage before his military service and again after his retirement from the State Highway Commission. He was an active member of the Carroll American Legion for over 60 years. Barry enjoyed fishing for Walleye, riding motorcycles, leather work, woodworking, camping, and spending time with his family. He was an expert at fixing carburetors and was known as the “Carburetor Man” by many.
Barry is survived by his wife Mary Ann of Carroll; son Michael Jensen (Dawn) of Lapeer, MI; daughter Sheri Augustus (Curt) of Carroll; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters: Marlene Prill of Glidden and; a brother George Jensen of Cummings, GA; sister-in-law Wanda Billmeier of Kelly, LA; and several nieces and nephews.
Barry was preceded in death by his parents Neils and Gwenneth Jensen; sister Marjorie Schrieber his in-laws Mike and Clara Billmeier, Don Billmeier, Jerry Billmeier, Wayne Hart; three brothers: Neils Jr, O.B. “Bogie”, and Henry.
