Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird is putting her support behind U.S. Attorney General nominee Pam Bondi and is urging the U.S. Senate to confirm her as head of the nation’s highest law enforcement agencies. President-elect Trump nominated Bondi as the 87th U.S. attorney general based on her performance as Florida’s attorney general from 2011 to 2019. During her tenure, Bondi led efforts to combat the opioid crisis, dismantling pill mills and prosecuting those fueling the epidemic. She also focused on fighting human trafficking and strengthening public safety. Bird says, “Attorney General Bondi is tough, smart, and fierce. She has been a historic leader in the fight against drug abuse and human trafficking, and she will restore integrity to our federal justice system. I’ve known Attorney General Bondi both as a friend and fellow prosecutor, and I have full confidence that she will serve our country well as U.S. Attorney General.” Bird joined 28 other state attorneys general and attorneys general-elect in signing a letter addressed to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, and Minority Whip John Thune, urging swift confirmation of Bondi. Their full letter is included below.
