Iowa Fuel Report: Dec. 4, 2024

Gas prices in Iowa continued to fall in the week following the busy Thanksgiving holiday weekend. According to the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) and AAA-Iowa, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline on Wednesday, Dec. 4, was $2.70, five cents below last week’s prices and 18 cents lower than prices from a year ago. The national average on Wednesday was down four cents at $3.03 per gallon. In retail diesel, Iowa prices dropped two cents to a $3.28 per gallon average, compared to $4.00 a year ago. Iowa prices remain 26 cents below the national average of $3.54. Wholesale ethanol held steady at $2.16. In heating fuels, natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site fell 48 cents to $2.99 per MMBtu, propane prices rose one cent to $1.55 per gallon, and home heating oil prices climbed eight cents to $2.90 per gallon.
