Community Of Concern Stuff The Bus Food Drive Slated For Next Weekend At Hy-Vee

A week from today (Saturday), a Western Iowa Transit vehicle will be parked outside the Carroll Hy-Vee as volunteers hope to “Stuff the Bus” with food donations for the Community of Concern Food Pantry. For the last 20+ years, LuAnne Kustra, who also serves on the pantry’s board of directors, has organized the drive, and Stuff the Bus has become the largest single-day event benefiting the Community of Concern.

Stuff the Bus will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Carroll Hy-Vee. Kustra says there are multiple ways for supporters to help.

Kustra says demand at the pantry has been increasing steadily for the last several years, so every bit of support is needed and appreciated.

Volunteers are also needed on Friday, Dec. 13, at 6 p.m. to assist in packing the bags of groceries for the drive on Saturday. Kustra says she is continually impressed by people’s generosity.

The Community of Concern is different from many food pantries, as it is need-based and not income-based. Any family experiencing temporary food insecurity is eligible for assistance. Learn more at www.commofconcern.com.
