Fort Dodge Woman Sentenced To 12 Years For Meth Conspiracy That Reached Into Carroll County

A Fort Dodge woman has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for her role in a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy in west-central Iowa, marking her second federal conviction for meth-related crimes in five years. Thirty-five-year-old Amanda Johnson, also known as Amanda Adams, pled guilty on July 31 to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and distribution of methamphetamine. She was sentenced on Dec. 12 in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Iowa to 144 months in prison, followed by eight years of supervised release. An additional 24 months was added for violating supervised release from her prior 2020 conviction for similar offenses. Evidence showed Johnson conspired to distribute over 1,500 grams of methamphetamine in Fort Dodge and the surrounding areas in 2023. She was involved in multiple drug transactions, including distributing a quarter-pound of meth in Waterloo during a controlled purchase and fleeing another deal with undercover agents in December 2023. The case was investigated by the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) laboratory, Fort Dodge Police Department, and Webster and Carroll County Sheriffs’ Offices. Johnson remains in U.S. Marshals custody pending transport to a federal prison.
