Two People Killed, Two Seriously Injured In Boone County Crash Monday

Two people were killed and two seriously injured in a crash yesterday (Monday) in Boone County. According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 11:48 a.m. at the intersection of 310th Street and G Avenue, north of Bouton. Authorities say a 2022 Volkswagen Taos, operated by 50-year-old Reid Schaefer of Perry, was traveling eastbound on 310th Street and failed to yield the right of way at the intersection. The Schaefer SUV struck a northbound 2005 Chevrolet Colorado, operated by 39-year-old Javier Hernandez of Perry, on the driver’s side. Hernadez and his passenger, 62-year-old Amelia Huaracha De Hernandez of Perry, were pronounced dead at the scene. Schaefer and his passenger, 49-year-old Christine Schaefer, were airlifted for treatment of serious injuries. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
