The Audubon Chamber of Commerce will disband at the start of the 2025 calendar year, with the local community stepping up to continue another similar organization. According to a social media post on Dec. 13, as of Jan. 1, the chamber will no longer be in service, but Chamber Bucks will still be honored all year in 2025. There was no specific reason given as to why the organization was disbanding. This isn’t the first time the chamber mentioned ending its community promotional services this year. The same decision was on the table in June after the abrupt resignation of previous Chamber Director Mercedes Johnston due to personal reasons. Shortly after her resignation, the chamber board approved and hired Tiffany Wittrock as the new Chamber Director. Since then, the organization held numerous new events, including Spook-tacular in October and Audubon Small Town Christmas. The chamber staff wishes to thank the Audubon community for its support over the years and encourages individuals to use the chamber bucks before 2026, when they will no longer be valid. A group of individuals took to the Facebook post and mentioned starting a community organization, like Exira’s Community Club, and encouraged those interested in participating to reach out to the individuals mentioned on the social media post.
