Iowans saw modest increases at the gas pump in this week’s fuel report from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) and AAA-Iowa. As of Tuesday, Dec. 24, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in the state was $2.77, three cents higher than last week’s prices but still five cents below prices from a year ago. The national average on Tuesday was up one cent on the week to $3.04 per gallon. In retail diesel, Iowa prices held steady with a $3.29 per gallon average, compared to $3.70 last year. Local prices are 22 cents below the $3.51 national average. Wholesale ethanol was unchanged from $2.16. As for heating fuels, natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site were up nine cents to $3.47 per MMBtu, while propane prices were up one cent to $1.57 per gallon, and home heating oil dropped five cents to $2.83 per gallon.
