With the warmer winter this season has had, New Opportunities wants to remind individuals to not wait to sign up for low-income home energy assistance program (LIHEAP) if needing extra help paying for heat in their house. LIHEAP is a federally funded program for qualifying individuals and families to have most of their primary heating costs paid for. Those selected is based on income, with household size making less than 200% of the poverty threshold. For example, a family of four must make less than a gross income of $62,400. Applications are now available until April 30, 2025. Residents must apply in the county they reside in. The complete list of locations to fill out an application can be found included below.
