Neal Squibb of Scranton

Neal Craig Squibb, age 72, of Scranton, IA, was assisted in his final weeks at home with St. Croix Hospice. Neal passed peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, December 23, 2024.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton and online condolences may be left for Neal’s family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at the Church of Christ in Scranton, IA, with Pastor Chad Cummings officiating.  Casket bearers will be Thomas Johnson, Dustin Gustoff, Victoria Johnson, Veronica Johnson, Americus Squibb, Steven Johnson, Quinten Squibb, and Abcde Squibb. Honorary casket bearers will be Annaleesa Squibb and Quincey Squibb. A private burial will be in the Highland Cemetery in Churdan at a later date.
Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton on Friday from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. Visitation will resume Saturday morning from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
Neal was born on September 20, 1952, at Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson, IA, and was the son of Walter “Bud” and Ida Beth (White) Squibb. Neal was a graduate from Paton-Churdan High School in 1970. He was married to Leesa Lewis on March 3, 1973. Neal started working at AMF in Jefferson during high school and continued advancing his career at this company through several name changes including AAI and Spalding for over 50 years. He also branched out to run his own sports equipment installation company, SWUBBI. This industry was his true passion, leading to the award of more than a dozen patents for his unique designs and allowed him to travel nationally and globally. He served his community through several endeavors including helping start the Scranton Rescue Unit and volunteering as an EMT and firefighter. In addition to his full-time job, Neal served as a Scranton Police Officer and a Greene County Sheriff Deputy. He continued serving in the Scranton area with numerous ongoing community projects.
Neal is survived by his loving wife Leesa of Scranton, daughter Wendy (Thomas) Johnson of Carroll, daughter Ashley Squibb (Dustin Gustoff) of Scranton, brothers-in-law, Lanny Lewis of Jefferson and Randy Lewis of Scranton, and 10 grandchildren.
Neal was preceded in death by his parents Walter “Bud” and Ida Beth Squibb, in-laws Gail and Delores Lewis, son Steven Squibb, and an unborn child and grandchild.
