Two Carroll women are fortunate to have avoided serious injuries on Christmas night after being run over by the vehicle they were passengers in. According to the Carroll Police Department, officers were dispatched to the scene on Deer Creek Lane at approximately 8:06 p.m. on Dec. 25 to a report of a woman trapped under an SUV. Law enforcement arrived to find a 2017 Nissan Murano with its rear passenger tire over a curb. Authorities say 76-year-old Carol Lynn Stoelk and her passenger, 69-year-old Linda Kay Bluml, were leaving a friend’s house to look at Christmas lights when an “open door” signal sounded. Stoelk attempted to put the vehicle in park to correct the issue, but it was set to reverse when she exited. Stoelk fell as the Nissan started to roll and ran over her left leg, not injuring her. Bluml got out of the car to help Stoelk and also fell as the vehicle was still rolling, becoming trapped underneath. Bluml reported pain in her left hip and was transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital by Carroll County Emergency Medical Services for treatment. According to official reports, no citations were issued.
