The Audubon County Fair has been recognized by the Association of Iowa Fairs as one of six “Blue Ribbon Fairs” in 2024. The recognition, presented during the association’s annual conference in Des Moines in mid-December, highlights the fair’s exceptional service to its community and youth programs. Selected from fairs in the association’s Southwest District, the Audubon County Fair demonstrated progress in supporting local 4-H programs, FFA chapters, and other volunteer-driven initiatives. Association Executive Director Thomas Barnes says, “My wife and I have visited the Audubon County Fair several times over the past years, and we found it does indeed serve very well the community as outlined in the guidelines of this award.” Barnes praised the fair’s board, volunteers, and area organizations for their dedication. The Association of Iowa Fairs includes 105 county fairs, the Iowa State Fair, and 144 industry members promoting Iowa’s fair industry. The other 2024 Blue Ribbon Fairs include O’Brien County in the Northwest District, Butler County in the North Central District, Clayton County in the Northeast District, Monroe County in the South Central District, and Des Moines County in the Southeast District.
