Mr. Connie Faga of Audubon

Mr. Connie Ray Faga, age 83, of Audubon, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines, IA.

Connie Ray Faga was born in Adair, Iowa, on October 24, 1941, the son of Andrew and Helen Hammond Faga. He was baptized on November 23, 1941, and confirmed on May 22, 1955, at St. John Lutheran Church, Adair. He graduated with the class of 1959 from Adair-Casey High School. After graduation, he attended Northwest Missouri State in Maryville, MO, for 2 years. In 1963, during the Vietnam War, he entered the U.S. Air Force and, after his training, was stationed at the Headquarters of Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas. The rest of his enlistment was served with the 76 Aerosp Rescue & Recovery Sq at Hickam A.F.B., Hawaii. On July 17, 1966, he married Connie Sue Baier at Exira Lutheran Church in Exira.

Following his discharge from the service, he returned and farmed near Exira for 43 years. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Adair, until shortly before his retirement, when he moved to Audubon, IA, and transferred his membership to St. John Lutheran Church, Audubon. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 332; in 2024, he then transferred to Audubon Post No. 120 and served on the Audubon County Veterans Affairs Board for 28 years. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and spending time with his family.

He leaves behind his wife, Connie Sue; his children, Jeremie of Atlantic, Jamie of Exira, and Julie of Audubon.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his brothers Larry Faga and David Faga, and his sisters Debbie Barnett and Kay Selby.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 02, 2025, at St. John Lutheran Church in Audubon, IA. Rev. Mike Bodkins will officiate the service. A luncheon will follow in the fellowship hall of the church. Following the luncheon, burial will take place with military honors at the St. John Lutheran Cemetery northwest of Adair.

The visitation will be held before the funeral, starting at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Faga Family. They will be designated at a later date in memory of Connie. They may be mailed to Schmidt Family Funeral Home P.O. Box 201, Audubon, IA 50025.
