The Iowa Democratic Party (IDP) will likely see leadership changes this weekend as the central committee elects officers for 2025. Party leaders will gather for a special meeting on Saturday, Jan. 4, in Ankeny to select a new chair, vice chair, secretary, and treasurer. Democrats lost seats in the already Republican-controlled Iowa House and Senate following November’s elections. President-elect Donald Trump won 94 of 99 counties, and the state’s Congressional delegation consists entirely of Republicans, suggesting IDP leadership will take a different tack moving forward.
