Marlene G. Prill, age 87, of Glidden, IA, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. on Monday, January 6, 2025 at St. John Lutheran Church in Carroll with Rev. Cindy Johnson officiating. Organist for the service will be Jan Potthoff. Casket bearers will be Justin Hein, Brandon Eischeid, Nicholas Hein, Dane Eischeid, Jessica Sterns, and Sam Sterns. Honorary casket bearers will be Cole Eischeid, Lukas Bierl, Marie Sianez, Joanna Coble, Benjamin Bierl, Abraham Bierl, and Abigail Bierl. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden.
Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden from 5 – 7 P.M. on Sunday. The casket will be moved to St. John Lutheran Church at 1P.M. on Monday where visitation will resume until 1:45 P.M. prior to the service.

Marlene was born on April 19, 1937 in the home of her grandmother in Glidden. She was the daughter of Niels and Gwenneth (Leonard) Jensen. She grew up on a farm near Carrollton. As a child, she was a member of the United Brethren Church and was baptized in a lake at bible camp. She was confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church after her marriage. Marlene attended school at Carrollton and Glidden High School. She was married to Verlin Prill on January 10, 1954 at St. John Lutheran Church in Grant Township. They had four daughters: Karin, Kim, Sonya, and Peggy. Verlin and Marlene operated a dairy farm northwest of Glidden, and Marlene later worked at Shady Oaks Nursing Home in Lake City. Verlin passed away in August of 1993. They enjoyed fishing, traveling, and playing cards with friends. Marlene enjoyed horseback riding through the timber in her younger years and playing softball. She loved traveling and spending time with her family and friends, sewing, gardening, reading and animals. Her home was decorated with the many puzzles she had assembled, her collection of Holstein Cows, and cherished family photos.
Marlene was married to Wayne Hart on January 17, 2001. They spent many winters in Mesa, AZ, and enjoyed traveling and playing cards and Bingo with friends. She enjoyed her volunteer time with the RSVP program. She colored over 800 pictures for nursing home residents during Covid and she had many pen pals from the Glidden – Ralston School. She was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church, and she was a member of the RPM Club.
Marlene is survived by her daughters and their families: Karin Eischeid (Kevin) of Glidden, Kim Hein (Ross) of Glidden, Sonya Sterns (Dave) of Carroll, and Peggy Bierl (Francis) of Sedro-Woolley, WA; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter; a brother George Jensen of Georgia; two sisters-in-law Mary Ann Jensen of Carroll and Marion Prill of Lake City; and many nieces and nephews. Marlene is also survived by Wayne Hart’s family.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents Niels and Gwenneth Jensen; her father and mother-in-law Dick and Emma Prill; her husband Verlin in 1993 and her husband Wayne Hart in 2024; a sister Suzy Schreiber; and four brothers: Niels Jensen Jr., Orlando “Bogie” Jensen, Barry Jensen, and Henry Jensen at age two.
