A Carroll man remains in custody after eluding from law enforcement on Christmas Eve. According to Carroll County District Court records, a Carroll County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix heading northbound of Zephyr Avenue at approximately 1:10 a.m. for a broken taillight. Driver of the vehicle, 30-year-old Tyler Scott Mattingly, failed to stop and continued north reaching speeds of 120 miles per hour at times. The Mattingly vehicle came to a rest in Calhoun County, due to spikes strips set by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office on Jennings Avenue, near 385th Street. Mattingly and a female passenger were detained while a search of the vehicle was executed. A Sac County Sheriff K-9 alerted on the vehicle and baggies, a scale, and a cup with a crystalline substance was discovered as well as suspected marijuana. Mattingly was taken into custody to the Carroll County Jail and currently faces charges of eluding 25 mph or over, a class D felony and second-degree criminal mischief, a class D felony. Several other citations of reckless driving, failure to obey stop sign and more were also issued. Drug related charges may also be issued pending positive results of suspected narcotics. Mattingly is being held on no bond, due to being in violation of his parole for previous charges. The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Sac County Sheriff’s Office, Lake City Police Department, Rockwell City Police Department, Greene County Sheriff’s Office, and the Iowa State Patrol all assisted in the pursuit.
