Nick Nurse Foundation Donates $16,000 To Support Music Therapy At New Hope

Nick Nurse Foundation donates funding to New Hope to pay for three-years of musical therapy services for clients. The Nick Nurse Foundation financially   supports initiatives relating to music, sports or education that positively impact communities, aligning close to New Hope’s mission of enhancing the lives of individuals with disabilities. The funding was raised through the first annual Nick Nurse Charity Invitational held back in August at Carroll National Golf Course, with Philadelphia 76ers players, coaches, and former basketball stars. New Hope Development Director Angie Owen says music therapy will be a new service offered to residents, and is grateful to be able to offer the program for three years.

Music therapy uses an array of techniques involving music to assist individuals achieve goals and support needs. Owen says that a music therapist, Colleen Hecht, will offer one-hour services to ten residents once a week, with a rotating schedule so more clients will be able to participate. Owen says with the approximately $16,500 that the Nick Nurse Foundation will contribute to the three-years of music therapy, it will not only bring the clients joy and therapeutic benefits, but also create opportunities for them to engage in creative experiences.

New Hope staff wish to extend their gratitude to Nick Nurse, for selecting the organization as one of the recipients of funding from the Nick Nurse Foundation, to continue to enrich the lives of its clients with new services.
