Carroll County Attorney John Werden will serve as the president of the Iowa State Association of Counties (ISAC) for 2025. Werden, who has served on the ISAC Board of Directors since 2019, will lead the organization on its missions to strengthen cooperation between counties, pursue legislative priorities set by elected officials and supervisors, and better understand the unique challenges facing each of Iowa’s 99 counties. Werden says, “My goal is to continue the tradition of nonpartisan, grassroots governance. While counties collaborate with state and federal programs, counties are the most responsive and directly accountable to the people.” Werden will serve as the ISAC president through Dec. 31, 2025.
