Douglas Tigges of Minnesota

Douglas Tigges, age 55, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2024, at his home in Minneapolis. Funeral services will be at 1 pm on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll, with family receiving friends one hour prior to the service. Officiating will be Fr. Merlin Schrad. Burial will be at a later date in St. Francis Cemetery at Maple River.

Douglas Gerard Tigges, son of Leon and Ruth (Nieland) Tigges, was born February 6, 1969, in Carroll, Iowa. He grew up on a farm west of Maple River. Doug attended grade school at Mt. Carmel and graduated from Kuemper High School. He furthered his education with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Iowa and an A.O.S. in Culinary Studies from The Culinary Institute of America.

Doug then went on to a notable career as an executive chef and chef trainer, working mostly in Minnesota, but was privileged to share his skills throughout the United States, the UAE and Panama.

Doug enjoyed commuting on his motorcycle, hiking the lakes around Minneapolis and caring for his two cats.

Doug is survived by his mother Ruth Tigges of Carroll; two brothers Michael Tigges of Carroll and Russell (Abbie) Tigges of Lagrangeville, New York; a brother-in-law Joe Bornong of Minneapolis; and by his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Leon Tigges and a sister Julie Tigges Bornong.
