Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Iowa Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) are leading a legislative effort in Washington, D.C., to streamline reciprocity for concealed carry permit holders. The bill, known as the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act, would allow individuals with concealed carry privileges in one state to exercise those rights in any state permitting concealed carry while adhering to each state’s laws. Grassley says, “Responsible gun owners shouldn’t have to jump through hoops to exercise their constitutional right when visiting other concealed carry states. This bill would reduce confusion and legal inconsistencies for law-abiding Americans while also respecting states’ rights to set their own laws. I look forward to working with my colleagues to advance this commonsense law.” Feenstra also joined the effort, introducing a companion bill last week in the U.S. House. He says, “A concealed carry permit in one state should be valid in all 50 states. Law-abiding gun owners deserve to freely exercise their Second Amendment rights.” The legislation has garnered support from the National Rifle Association, the National Shooting Sports Foundation, and Gun Owners of America.
