City Council Gives Chamber The Nod For New Carroll Logo, Branding

The Carroll City Council gave the preliminary nod last night (Monday) to the Carroll Chamber of Commerce to move forward with a new logo and branding motif for the City of Carroll. The new logo is a stylized “C” incorporating colors from Carroll’s most well-known brands: Kuemper Catholic, the Carroll Community School District, the Chamber of Commerce, the Carroll Merchants, and the old Carroll script logo. The Chamber and community leaders have been working with Ben Muldrow, a branding and marketing expert, for nearly a year to develop the new logo. Chamber President Ryan Milligan says this is long overdue for Carroll.

The Carroll City Council approved the logo, but officials have requested a few stylistic changes, such as incorporating colors from both schools, to see if they prefer a slightly different appearance. Significant changes are not expected before implementation, so it will closely resemble the logo presented on Monday evening. Chamber and Carroll County Growth Partnership (CCGP) Executive Director Kimberly Tiefenthaler says the plan is more than just a logo; it is a theme that will be reflected on wayfinding signage to be implemented throughout town over the next several years.

Because many of the signs will be located along the U.S. Highway 30 corridor, the Chamber will have to work with the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) for size and location approval, making the implementation process take longer than they’d prefer. However, Milligan says they hope to complete Phase I by state baseball season this summer.

The motif will begin appearing on wayfinding signs, banners, light poles, and kiosks in the central business district and expand to the rest of the city. Tiefenthaler and Milligan made their comments Tuesday morning during an interview on KCIM. Listen to the full audio below.
