Gov. Kim Reynolds will lay out her legislative priorities and highlight some of Iowa’s success from the past year in tonight’s (Tuesday) Condition of the State Address. Reynolds will present to the Iowa House of Representatives and Iowa Senate from the Iowa State Capitol, beginning at 6 p.m. Republicans hold supermajorities in both chambers, and legislative leaders have been clear that their priority remains on lowering Iowans’ tax burden and cutting spending where feasible, but Reynolds has not spelled out her goals for the 2025 session. At the end of last year’s legislative session, Reynolds suggested legislative action on cell phone use in schools, so it is possible she will speak in more detail on that Tuesday evening. District 6 Senator Jason Schultz of Schleswig suggested in his session preview that the state’s energy policy could be up for discussion. Renolds’ 2025 Condition of the State Address will be broadcast on Iowa PBS stations and via live streams. Links to watch are included below.
