Fuel prices continued to rise in this week’s report from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) and AAA-Iowa. As of Tuesday, Jan. 14, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in the state was $2.88, three cents higher than last week’s average and 16 cents higher than a year ago. The national average on Tuesday was unchanged from $3.07 per gallon. As for retail diesel, Iowa prices averaged six cents higher at $3.35 per gallon, 23 cents lower than last year. The national average stood at $3.58 per gallon on Tuesday. Wholesale ethanol was unchanged from $2.16. In heating fuels, natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site were up 12 cents to $3.75 per MMBtu. Propane prices are up one cent to $1.59 per gallon, while home heating oil jumped five cents to $2.93 per gallon.
