Landus announces layoffs today (Friday) during a companywide conference call with employees. A spokesperson for the Des Moines-based agriculture co-op says that less than ten percent of the 600 employees across the 50 locations across Iowa will be let go. She says that Landus is executing on its strategy and are in a strong position to become the ag retailer of the future. The Landus spokeperson says “As we have seen with many companies across the US, we need to make changes in both our personnel and our structure to better support our farmer-owners and accomplish this bold strategy. This was not an easy decision, but it was a necessary decision as we move forward into 2025 and beyond. Landus is poised and ready to take the next step in growth and efficiency.” Landus serves over 5,000 farmers throughout 34 states and 16 countries, with a reported revenue of $2.4 billion in 2023. The spokesperson did confirm that rumors of the company buying out was not true.
