A Carroll woman was taken into custody yesterday (Monday) after allegedly assaulting a police officer. According to a Carroll Police Department affidavit, officers were dispatched at approximately 3:49 p.m. to the St. Anthony Regional Hospital campus in the 300 block of S. Clark Street on a disturbance report. Upon arrival, law enforcement made contact with the suspect, identified as 34-year-old Anna Marie Jordan, who became combative with authorities during the exchange. The affidavit alleges Jordan struck the officer in the chest with a closed fist during and proceeded to kick him in the knee, leading to her arrest. She was booked into the Carroll County jail on charges of assault on persons in certain occupations, a serious misdemeanor. As of this (Tuesday) morning, she remained in custody, awaiting an appearance before a magistrate.
