Local Area Fire Departments Brave Extreme Cold For Three Hours Saving House From Attached Garage On Fire

Local fire departments brave the extreme cold temperatures for approximately three hours to extinguish a structure fire northwest of Carroll this (Tuesday) morning. According to Breda Fire Chief Dan Wiskus, the department was dispatched just before 8:00 a.m. to a garage with smoke and flames in the 18000 block of 150th Street. Crews worked to put out the fire that originated in the northwest corner of the attached garage before it could spread to the house. Wiskus reports no one was home at the time and thanks to the quick response times the house received only moderate smoke damage but remains intact. The garage is deemed a total loss. The cause of the fire is believed to be from a refrigerator that was in the same corner of the garage. The Arcadia Fire Department, Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Carroll County Emergency Medical Services, and the Carroll Fire Department all assisted the Breda Fire Department on the scene.
