The Carroll City Council’s upcoming meeting on Monday has a brief agenda, focusing primarily on internal loan repayments and plans for the 12th Street reconstruction project, which is slated to begin as soon as next summer. City Manager Aaron Kooiker says the first item of business for the council is a resolution connected to financing for several upcoming city expenditures, including the $3.77 million wastewater treatment plant project and a $400,000 firetruck purchase.
The total amount of the capital loan note is $2.075 million, so only a portion of the debt will be used for those expenditures. The council will then consider a subdivision application for a property outside city limits that falls within the existing two-mile zoning limit. The approximately 33-acre section is near the intersection of 210th Street and Jade Avenue. It is currently zoned A-2, an agricultural designation. As for the 12th Street project, design work is underway, and Kooiker is seeking guidance from the council on some of the specifics.
With budget season well underway, Kooiker says they’ll finish Monday’s meeting with an overview of the city’s five-year capital improvement plan (CIP), and how each piece fits into Carroll’s long-term budget.
Budget public hearings are tentatively scheduled for March’s council meetings. The meeting on Monday, Jan. 27, begins at 5:15 p.m. at Carroll City Hall. It is open to the public and will be live-streamed via the city’s YouTube channel. Links to the agenda and video are included with this story on our website.
