CCSD Board Of Education Holds Discussion On Changes At High School Level And More During Monday Night’s Meeting

The Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education discussed proposed high school-level changes, approved the staffing plan for the next school year, and more during Monday night’s meeting. The meeting began at 6:30 p.m. with a presentation from Carroll High School (CHS) Counselor Kristi Shanks and social studies teacher Bob Pauk on recommended changes to the CHS schedule and graduation requirements. Shanks and Pauk proposed modifying the bell schedule to have seven class periods and a study hall instead of eight traditional classes, by opening up the career diploma to all students instead of just those participating in the alternative school program and having a weighted grade scale for students that are enrolled in Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) courses. Board members approved the weighted grade scale, and further discussions will be held on the rest of the proposed ideas. CCSD’s 2025-26 school year staffing plan was approved, adding two additional behavior interventionists, with one working full time out of each building (Fairview, Adams, and Middle School.) The board members approved various quotes, from $5,992 for door locks at the middle school building to $89,560 to resurface the track at the stadium. Carroll Broadcasting will bring you more from the CCSD Board of Education meeting in upcoming newscasts.
