Manning Fire And Surrounding Departments Come Together For Large Structure Fire Sunday Evening

Manning Fire Department expresses sincere gratitude to surrounding area fire departments that stepped up to assist with the large structure fire on Sunday evening. President of the Manning Fire Association, Todd Stadtlander, recalls the events leading up to a six hour long standoff with the blaze.

Due to an existing 28E agreement, Templeton Fire Department was on the way when Manning got dispatched out. Other surrounding agencies, including the Manilla, Irwin, Dedham, Carroll, Halbur, Arcadia, Westside and Vail Fire Departments were called in to come assist. Stadtlander says hundreds of thousands of gallons of water were used from multiple sources to put the fire out.

Ten departments responded to that fire, and Stadtlander says each one worked together, putting out the structure and protecting surrounding buildings from damage.

Stadtlander says its not only the fire departments that deserve recognition, he says Manning Municipal Utilities and the City of Manning turned off electric and gas services to nearby buildings to keep the departments safe, along with the Manning Police Department, Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and Carroll County Emergency Management assisting with public safety. Stadtlander says even members of the community really stepped up in support.

Stadtlander also says the families of the department members deserve recognition, for continuing to support their firefighter through everything. He says the thank you list could go on and on, and is continuously proud to live and serve in the great community of Manning.
