Iowa Fuel Report: Jan. 29, 2025

Movement in the Iowa fuel market was mixed in this week’s report from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) and AAA-Iowa. As of Wednesday, Jan. 29, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in the state was $2.95, up six cents from last week and 19 cents over prices from a year ago. The national average on Wednesday dropped one cent to $3.12 per gallon. In retail diesel, Iowa prices dipped two cents to a $3.42 per gallon statewide average. Compared to this time last year, diesel is 15 cents cheaper. Iowa prices remain 25 cents lower than the $3.67 national average. Wholesale ethanol was unchanged from $2.16. As for heating fuels, natural gas prices plunged 77 cents at the Henry Hub reporting site to $3.12 per MMBtu, propane prices rose one cent to $1.68 per gallon, and home heating oil slipped one cent to $3.03 per gallon.
